Arena Operations Lead

The Opportunity
The Arena Operations Lead will be responsible for providing a high level of maintenance and support to Basketball Operations and the Arena Operations staff respectively. The ideal candidate for this position must possess the ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Independent judgment is required to prioritize and balance workloads in an effective manner where quality of service is the focus. This position demands flexibility to be effective as team commitments, and Arena operations, dictate a constantly changing schedule. This position will be responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance and cleaning of all Grizzlies assets including, Practice Court, Main Court, Memphis Tigers Court, Visiting Locker Room, Visiting Weight Room, and Memphis Tigers Locker room.
In This Role You Will
- Ensure all storage areas are in a neat and clean manner.
- Responsible for training and delegating work to Arena Operations Team Member
- Respond in a timely manner to facility maintenance request for the Grizzlies spaces, including but not limited to the Practice Court and the Main Court
- Responsible for cleaning the courts, back boards, and ensure goals are leveled on the Main Court and Practice Court
- Coordinate with and verify work of Service Master cleaning crew
- Interact with and established vendors as-needed to facilitate the operations of Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Tigers spaces
- Ensure the Practice Facility meets and maintains all NBA standards and requirements
- Responsible for creating and submitting work orders for any facility maintenance issues
- Event management; including set up and break down for various events and activities inside the Grizzlies, Tigers, and Hustle spaces
- Report maintenance issues and concerns to Arena Operations Coordinator
- Responsible for installing decal stickers on goals and court for local and National Televised Games
- Ensure daily walk-through check list is completed and recorded
- Keeps the immediate Coordinator and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress
- Draft memos and provide communications to employees with facility updates and other important information.
- Assists with conversion as needed for different events
- Layout chairs and equipment as needed for various events
- Ability to read and interpret event work orders and CAD drawings
- Ability to make judgment calls as required in order to facilitate conversions and setups
- Maintain operating equipment and machinery as required
- Comply with all OSHA and safety codes as well as applicable building codes as required
- Assist other depts. as required in order to promote teamwork and to comply with work schedules

The Experience You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Education, Sports Management, or related.
- At least two years of relevant work experience
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks constantly.
- Highly organized with good coordinating and project management skills.
- Able to meet deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proven track record to be a self-starter and problem-solver.
- Knowledge of the weight, cardio and basketball equipment, such as stanchions and goals
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required
Nice to Have:
Knowledge and passion of NBA and NCAA Basketball.
Physical/Cognitive Abilities
- Must be able to lift atleast 50 pounds at a time.
- Climb steps, squat, twist and bend without complications
- Ability to read, write and interpret information.
- Ability to use hands to manipluate, handle and feel.
- Must possess visual activity, i.e.: close, distance, and color vision, depth of perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to travel throught the facility, as required.
