The Purpose:

Based in the newly created Digital Products & Experiences team, reporting to the Head of Consumer Marketing, the role will work alongside a team of world class digital marketers to evolve how the club attracts and engages our 1.1 billion fans globally in our breadth of industry leading digital products and experiences.

The role  will support in the execution of digital marketing initiatives that create value for both the club and our fans. Working alongside a talented team, this role will drive growth of our existing digital experiences and launch as-yet-unannounced products that will enable the club to accelerate its position as the leading direct-to-fan brand in sports entertainment.

The Role:

Digital Campaign Marketing

  • Support the Head of Consumer Marketing and wider Consumer Marketing team with the creation and delivery of digital marketing plans that support departmental direct-to-fan objectives.
  • Ensure flawless delivery of campaign materials through all relevant consumer touchpoints, while also optimizing in-flight campaigns based on data and ongoing learnings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to turn ideas into reality, playing an active role with product owners in defining propositions and go-to-market plans across new and existing digital products and experiences.
  • Be an expert in the latest in digital marketing technology and trends, making proposals for how Manchester United can leverage new and emerging initiatives to bring fans closer to the club.
  • Clearly present plans and specific ideas to a wide range of collaborators across the club, pulling in a breath of expertise and perspectives to both gain support and optimize plans.  
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly executive marketing reviews, sharing insights and data on digital campaign performance.

Audience Development and Insights

  • Develop a deep and ever-evolving understanding of our audience, leveraging data and insight every day to shape industry leading digital marketing campaigns.
  • Leverage our customer data platform to help define and more effectively target priority audiences, creating bespoke communications and offers for various fan cohorts.
  • Turn data insights into actionable plans that can be effectively and persuasively communicated to colleagues who do not have data-orientated backgrounds.
  • Digest fan insight across geographical regions to build an understanding of how to accelerate growth in both mature and developing markets.

Storytelling and Content

  • Partner with internal brand, content and comms teams through crafting briefs that enable creative and digital activations that are the envy of world football.
  • Craft clear and compelling messaging frameworks to be leveraged across all consumer touch points that drive desire for our digital products and experiences.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends across social media, sports, entertainment and culture, and factor in innovative ideas across Manchester United’s campaign and content output.
  • Create succinct, persuasive and audience-centric presentations that inspire and motivate colleagues to execute campaigns through their owned functional areas.

People and Team:

  • Bring a high level of energy to your work and the club every day, with a proactive and collaborative approach to new tasks and challenges.
  • Take the initiative to identify opportunities to improve both products and working processes, being a vocal contributor in a brilliant team of talented consumer marketers.

The Person:

  • Previous experience of directly leading or supporting digital marketing campaigns that delivered tangible brand or business impact.
  • Data literate, with proven ability to leverage insight and analytics to shape recommendations for product development and/or digital marketing campaigns.
  • Highly resourceful with a willingness to experiment, learn and constantly adapt to land on industry leading solutions.
  • A wiling collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills that can create powerful working relationships.
  • An appreciation of the unique cultural and consumer landscapes across geographical regions where the club has a significant following.
  • Can gain the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
